| Superwash fiber takes many dyes beautifully. I useJacquard Acid Dyes and they work fine for me. I have also used RIT and it took all the dye leaving a nearly clear water. I often soak my roving in a fairly strong hot vinegar bath before dropping the fiber into the dyepot, this gives a variegated dye job. I would also use this method for wetting the fiber before painting it with the dye. I also just drop the dry roving into the pots for a wider variation of color. |

| When I am dyeing the rovings I use strong dyes. If they show signs of not absorbing all the dyes, I begin adding fibers to the pots to take up the excess dyes. I call these dye soppers. They are #1 fibers, wool and occasionally mohair or a blend. They are good for blending, for spinning if you like spinning from handfuls, or they are good for felting. This is a sample of dye soppers from a few days dyeing...you never know what color will appear. You get a mixed bag of color and these may vary from the photo. |

| It is with regret that I am discontinuing my Custom Dyeing of Fibers. My body keeps attacking me and I am going to have to back off on some things. Custom Dyeing is often stressful in attempting to get the exact colors, so this is something I will no longer be doing. For now I will continue doing my Specially Dyed Fibers in whatever colors I happen to have in the pots. |
