Carl and Carol Lee of The Sheep Shed Studio in Encampment, Wyoming are happy to be able to offer very affordable quality mill end rovings from The Brown Sheep Company in Mitchell, Nebraska
BROWN SHEEP MILL END ROVINGS This is the way the mill end rovings arrive at The Sheep Shed Studio. They then must be removed from the bags and sorted.

The sorting begins: The bags must be opened and the rovings and pieces sorted into the three classes of fiber we sell. This is a labor intensive job, there is simply no other way to do it but take it piece by piece and wind it into bundles.

The Spinning Bells These "resemble" the silk caps that we spin, only much larger. You can peel off layers and pull into roving. Most of the natural colors (white, tan, brown, gray) are likely to felt if you want to . Bells are about 2' long and at least that wide at the bottom. Colors are rare anymore , Gray and White always on hand.
THESE ROVINGS ARE MILL ENDS!!!! They are not perfect, they have been tossed in boxes, put in bags, hauled. They are top spinning and felting fibers, but may not be exactly as pictured.

The Whites The whites come in a variety of sizes and shapes. If they have pink in them, it means they have mohair in the mix (85% wool, 15% mohair). We try to pull out all superwash when we find it, but it is possible that we might miss some.

The Brown Tones we have a wide array of brown tones. Dark, medium or light brown tones. Wide or narrow striping. If you have a preference we will try to fill it. If we cannot, we will ship the next closest colorway.
The Black Tones We have a wide array of black tones. Lots of striping in Dark, Medium and Light shades. If you have a preference we will try to fill it. If we cannot, we will ship the next closest colorway.
Grab Bags Grab bags are filled with the fibers that don't fit the roving category. The fiber might be filmy batts like the one shown on the right or short pieces of roving, handfuls of fibers, cut pieces, or a combination of all. All are spinable, most are felting material. It might all be one color of fiber, or might be assorted colors
